Last August 3, 2015, the City Government of Davao together with theOffice of Congressman Isidro T. Ungab held the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Proposed Multi-purpose Building (Evacuation Center) at Los Amigos, Tugbok District, Davao City.
The proposed Multi-Purpose Building (Evacuation Center) will not only be used for trainings and assemblies of clients but also envisioned as an evacuation center for victims of disaster and survivors where they can take refuge and temporary sheltered. It is a venue where evacuees are provided with needed basic assistance are helped to overcome their anxieties and are organized and involved in various activities.
Specifically, it is aimed to:
1. To provide temporary refuge to individual families who are potentially at risk or in actual danger because of the hazard;
2. To ensure that displaced disaster victims are immediately attended to and are provided temporary shelter, food, medical needs, clothing, domestic items and comfort giving;
3. To provide opportunities in case of prolonged evacuation, for recovery, rehabilitation and developmental activities while in the center which will facilitate recovery of the evacuees to normal family life upon return to their respective barangays and communities.
