The Local Government Unit of Davao City was conferred with Gawad Paglilingkod sa Sambayan (GAPAS) Award as the Model LGU Implementing Day Care Services during the Pagkilala sa Natatanging Kontribusyon sa Bayan (PaNata ko sa Bayan) Awards by DSWD last January 28, 2020 at DSWD Central Office’s New Building Auditorium, Batasan Complex, Constitution Hills, Quezon City. DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito Delizo Bautista awarded the Plaque of Recognition to LGU Davao City. Receiving the plaque was Maria Luisa T. Bermudo, CSSDO Department Head II, together with Gina A. Molon, OIC, PSCCD, Elena G. Gabaton, Malodina B. Pardillo, both Technical Staff for Early Childhood Care & Development Program of City Social Services & Development Office. DSWD FO XI Regional Director, Grace Q. Subong, Alfredo Sy, Assistant Regional Director for Operations were also present during the awarding. The awarding was in line with DSWD’s 69th year Anniversary with the theme “Social Integration: DSWD’s Major Thrust in Line with the Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022″. The award sought to acknowledge and to recognize the invaluable support of partner Local Government Units who generously shared their times and resources, in helping the Department carry out its mandate of improving the lives and providing a better opportunity for the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized sectors.
Davao City bagged the award as Model LGU Implementing Day Care Services because of its programs, services, and innovations in reaching out to children to benefit early childhood care & development. The City Social Services & Development Office will continue to strive more and develop more programs to make day care services now early childhood care & development programs accessible to all children and their families.
